Centers: Founded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of
services for families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to
end family homelessness by restoring hope and rebuilding lives.
With an annual operating budget of $20 million dollars, UMOM
provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to
families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa
County. UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our
services annually, including those families receiving support at
the Family Housing Hub, Maricopa County's family coordinated entry
system. Position Description: The Grants Manager is a member of the
Philanthropy Team and is a liaison between the agency and its
funders. The Grants Manager is responsible for researching,
preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals/reports that
support agency goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. This
person serves as the primary grant writer, manages funder
relationships, engages in compliance reporting, and supports
special project initiatives. This position requires strong writing,
data analysis, program budgeting, and project management skills,
with an emphasis on outcome measurement. Work in this position is
often structured around deadlines and requires effort at a fast
pace without sacrificing quality. This position is responsible for
submitting a minimum of 90 grants, acquiring 20 new foundation
funders, and raising $1,200,000 annually toward the Philanthropy
Team's goal of $8.5 million. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Private Grants Strategy and Writing Completes grant proposal
development and submission-prepares and organizes materials for
proposals, submits and monitors grant applications. Research new
funding and business development opportunities on a local, state,
and national level. Qualifies prospective foundation donors
regularly, routinely submitting letters of inquiry to develop a
robust pipeline of prospective foundation donors. Maintains and
builds relationships with funders and other strategic partners on a
local, state, and national level. Works closely with the Director
of Philanthropy, Gift Officers, Volunteer and In-Kind Managers for
overlap with corporate and corporate foundations funding
opportunities. Drafts proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives,
and budgets and collaborates to finalize with program staff,
finance, and the Director of Philanthropy. Submits grant
applications via paper or online portals and maintains list of
passwords. Meets with funders and UMOM staff to explore funding
opportunities and fulfill site visit requirements. Maintains master
calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and
correspondence. Ensures all contact information and donor
communication is entered in Virtuous in a timely manner. Maintains
library of grant support documents including resumes, bios, IRS
forms, Board/staff diversity lists, etc. Executes thank you letters
and facilitates grant contracts/agreements. Ensures acknowledgment
of funders/investors via website, e-newsletter, and social media.
Grants Management Maintains grant compliance and reporting,
including outcome measurement and grant budgets - takes
responsibility for meeting high standards of effectiveness,
timeliness, and completeness. Monitors and maintains funder and
investor reporting schedules and requirements. Tracks progress
toward organizational and programmatic outcomes and goals. Drafts
compelling progress reports and targeted program updates (e.g.,
blog posts, press releases, Facebook, and Twitter posts) to funders
that fully capture programmatic success. Assembles all necessary
supporting materials and documents including budget reports,
outcome measurements, success stories, etc.; submit reports to
funders and investors. Research statistics, trends and data for
grant proposals and community advocacy. Other duties as assigned by
Leadership and/or executives. Qualifications and Competency
Requirements: Experience and Education High School Diploma or GED,
required Bachelor's degree preferred, Communications, English, or
related field Minimum five years of professional experience
Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills experience,
as well as superior editing skills, including ability to convey
complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience
required Familiarity and experiencing working with Phoenix,
statewide, and national funds is a plus Knowledge of
non-profit/social sector and/or experience working with underserved
or disadvantaged populations is a plus Computer skills Proficiency
with applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and
Outlook. Previous experience with volunteer or donor management
software is strongly preferred Compliance Valid Level One
Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one Ability to
clear the Central Registry Screening from the Department of Child
Safety & Adult Protective Services. Ability to comply with and pass
all required background check and drug screening requirements,
including but not limited to pre-employment and random drug
screening as required/requested. Valid AZ Driver's License and a
driving record that falls within UMOM's policy 50/100 level of car
insurance coverage. Physical activities and working conditions The

job. This position is typically performed in an interior,
environmentally controlled office setting. The duties of the job
require extended periods of time being stationary and manipulating
a computer (keyboard, monitor, mouse), and other standard office
equipment including, but not limited to printer, fax, calculator,
copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.

data-driven organization Work Schedule: The typical schedule for
this position is hybrid with flexible hours as long as deadlines
are being met and position is supporting the needs of the
organization. The majority of the work in this position is able to
be conducted remotely if desired, however, the incumbent must be
based in Arizona (preferably within the Phoenix-metro area) and
