Job Description:
$16.40-22.64/hr, 40 hrs/wk, 45 wks/yr
Summary
The Teacher has direct responsibility for the operation of the
Infant/Toddler Center-Based Program and the delivery of Early Head
Start services to infant/toddlers and their families. The Teacher
works directly with teens or young adults who are at risk of not
completing their education, pregnant and/or have newborn infants to
one-year-old children, including children with special needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates compliance with Head Start Program Performance
Standards and Arizona DHS licensing requirements.
Recruits and enrolls Early Head Start families.
Establishes and maintains safe and healthy environment for
infants/toddler.
Demonstrates and understanding of infants/toddler growth
development and applies this knowledge to practice.
Records and reports the necessary data to track and monitor
infant/toddler's developmental progress.
Works cooperatively with parents and identifies resources to
coordinate goals and activities that meet the plans set for
children with special needs.
Assists/participate during mealtime activities, assist and provide
nutritional education.
Assist and provide families information and resources to a medical
home as well as additional available community services.
Works cooperatively with the prime family educator(s).
Plans for and supports the development of Individual
goals/objectives of infants/toddlers that take into consideration
of their family culture and background.
Assist in the transitioning of children into /out of Head
Start.
Assists in the development of community collaborations
Provides high quality, comprehensive, individual, inclusive, and
family-centered services and activities.
Maintains confidentiality of family records and information.
Encourages and promotes the family's achievement of
self-sufficiency by establishing short and long term, realistically
attainable goals.
Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with
colleagues, communities, other early childhood service
providers.
To support children's development, learning, and well being.
Participates in all required training and related career
development classes.
Attends staff meetings.
Attends parent meetings, as assigned by the center supervisor,
assisting with the planning and implementation of the meeting and
any other related parent activities.
Completes written paperwork and submits reports as assigned by
supervisor.
High tolerance for paperwork, documentation and meeting program and
federal deadlines
Fills in for other staff as needed Home Base Visitor, sub, other
individual training staff for planning, vacation, sick and etc.
All Staff assist children with toiletry needs
Must travel within NACOG region, including possible over-night
stays
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed
below are representative of the knowledge, skill and /or ability
required.
Education and/or Experience
Associate Degree or Higher in Early Childhood Education/Development
with an emphasis in Infant/Toddler studies. Experience in an infant
& toddler program. Must meet all Arizona Health Services Department
Health and licensing regulations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must be self-motivated. Preschool classroom experience or related
experience necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively in
English in both verbal and written format. Knowledge of Early
Childhood Education. Ability to maintain effective working
relationships with people of varied social, cultural, and
educational backgrounds. Must be bondable. Bilingual proficiency
and/or experience working with multicultural setting preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions,
short correspondence, and memos demonstrating the ability to carry
out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must
be able to demonstrate the ability to write simple correspondence.
Must be effective presenting information in one-on-one and small
group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the
organization. Must possess the ability to add and subtract two
digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Must
have the ability to perform these operations using units of
American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Must
be able to apply common sense understanding. Must have the ability
to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.
Certificates and Licenses
Current, valid Arizona Drivers License
Obtain Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card
Obtain Food Handlers Certification if required by the County Health
Department
Obtain CPR and First Aide Certification

usually loud.
