Job Description:
OverviewThe Director of EHR applications will manage a team of
IS staff. The Director plans and directs all aspects of design,
implementation, and maintenance of clinical and financial
information systems to effectively apply technology solutions to
improve clinical and financial operations. The Director performs
administrative and management functions for the health system's IS
area. The Director is responsible for translating the mission,
strategic goals, and program priorities of the organization into
department operations. The Director will be responsible for
providing leadership, direction, and management of information
systems that directly support clinical information system
solutions. The Director manages the analysis, selection, design,
implementation, and support of clinical and financial information
systems solutions to manage and improve operations. Plans,
prioritizes, summarizes, directs, and supervises staff, users, and
vendors in clinical systems development and support functions with
an emphasis on complete, accurate, compliant, and secure systems.
Provides insight and the appropriate level of reporting to various
leaders and partners within the organization. Ensures that
limitations and constraints (cost, time, volumes, benefits, and
risks) and controls (security, audit, operational) are considered,
documented, and reported to the CIO.ResponsibilitiesPeople
Management
- Chairs, co-chairs, or attends meetings and steering committees
as appropriate, serving as the voice of IT best practices and
includes, brings, or engages necessary IT personnel/leadership as
needed.
- Manages, communicates, and escalates EHR issues, concerns, and
needs related to Information Technology and support.
- Engages vendors as appropriate to address issues, service
priorities, and holds them accountable to establish agreements and
SLAs.
- Ensures that inpatient support strategies and priorities align
with NAH's strategic, financial, and operational goals.
- Provides an open forum for staff discussions of ideas and
opinions in support of teamwork and communication.
- Effectively communicates strategies, priorities, and work
assignments, delegates as appropriate, and follows up to establish
accountability.
- Holds employees to high standards of performance and
accountability, providing counseling and coaching on areas of
improvement.
- Builds strong working relationships with clinical end users,
inpatient departments, and leaders to remove barriers for success
and deliver optimal informatics services within the acute
setting.Data Integrity
- Coordinates the collection and analysis of metrics related to
benefits realization and ROI in EHR systems.
- Works with the Director of Informatics to assess workflow
needs.
- Manages the impact of new or modified EHR systems on patient
confidentiality and privacy.
- Monitors system performance and compliance with EHR standards,
reporting anomalies or issues to IT and impacted departments.
- Facilitates coordination, change control, and resource
management in concert with technical IT services.Compliance/Safety
- Responsible for timely reporting of safety-related incidents
via the Midas/RDE tool; attends safety training; performs work
safely; monitors safety issues.
- Stays current and complies with relevant regulations, statutes,
and policies.
- Ensures certifications/licenses are up-to-date.
- Completes mandatory and job-specific training timely.
- Maintains visibility and accessibility to staff during regular
hours to foster communication.Fiscal Responsibility
- Designs and executes the EHR support model supporting NAH
growth, uptime, and system performance.
- Assists in planning and budgeting for operational budgets
related to clinical and financial systems.
- Coordinates maintenance, upgrades, and optimization of EHR
systems.Operational Management
- Champions process improvement, standardization, and efficient
workflows.
- Collaborates on EHR workflow maturity and standardization to
meet organizational and regulatory needs.
- Delivers high-quality written work, proposals, and
presentations.
- Manages resources, vendors, and staff to high standards,
addressing performance issues professionally.
- Supports evaluation, strategic planning, and implementation of
EHR projects and enhancements.QualificationsEducationBachelor's
degree required; Master's preferred.Certification & LicensuresLean
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (preferred); Project Management
Professional (PMP) (preferred).Experience
- Minimum 5 years supporting Oracle Health EHR systems
(required).
- Minimum 8 years in implementation, redesign, or process work
involving clinical system deployment (preferred).
- Proven leadership skills across organizational levels
(preferred).Understanding of computers and competence in basic
software programs are essential due to the integration of
technology in healthcare.CALL REQUIRED: Subject matter expert call;
physical response may not be necessary.
