Job Description:
This is Pool/Variable/float position, $50/hr. Day and night
shifts available. JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Inpatient
Registered NurseDEPARTMENT: CSU/WPH POSITION REPORTS TO: Director
of NursingGENERAL SUMMARY: Assesses, plans, implements and
evaluates delivery of safe, therapeutically effective,
individualized client care in accordance with Arizona Department of
Health Services, ANA Standards of Professional Psychiatric and
Mental Health Nursing, as well as policies and procedures of the
CSU/WPH Unit. Ensures coordination of all health care team
activities with respect to implementing physician orders. ESSENTIAL
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Continuously assesses the health status
of the client/family. 2. Continuously assesses the acuity of each
client and the entire unit in order to ensure patient and unit
safety. 3. Develops an individualized treatment plan for each
client prioritizing needs, setting goals, and determining nursing
interventions to achieve those goals. 4. Implements nursing
interventions and carries out physician orders appropriately
according to the client's individualized needs and plan of care. 5.
Continuously evaluates client's/family's response to care and
modifies treatment plan and interventions accordingly. 6. Directs
the daily activities of the nursing staff in carrying out client
care. 7. Performs other duties as assigned. BACKGROUND: A.
Supervision -The Inpatient Registered Nurse is responsible for the
direct supervision of the Health Services Technicians working on
the PHF Unit during the shift; this includes overseeing client
assignments, implementation of client care and other duties in
accordance with skill level. Each nurse is also responsible for the
ongoing supervision of assigned Health Services Technicians; this
includes monitoring performance, assessing training needs,
providing weekly supervision/training, and completing performance
evaluations. B. Confidentiality - The Inpatient Registered Nurse
will have on-going access to client medical records and will
routinely handle treatment information generated by WYGC and other
providers. C. Mental Application - The Inpatient Registered Nurse
position requires decision-making ability which must be exercised
in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating client care on
a continuous basis. Decision making involves clinical concerns
related to client health and safety as well as supervisory
decisions in managing the acuity and overall safety of the unit.
The Inpatient Registered Nurse must be able to make these decisions
in a fast-paced and frequently changing environment where clients
are frequently in crisis. These decisions must be made in
accordance with WYGC policies and procedures.D. Responsibility - An
error in judgement could have a profound impact on the health,
safety, and well-being of both clients and staff and could result
in client or staff injury as well as the loss of time, expenses, or
the undermining of public/employee goodwill. E. Contacts/Internal
and Public - The Inpatient Nurse continually works with clients,
families, medical staff, peers, subordinates and immediate
supervisor. Also frequently interacts with case managers, other
WYGC staff, and other providers in the community.F. Special

XOther (specify): MR/DD CONDITIONS AND EQUIPMENT: A. Working
Conditions -The primary working locale will be the CSU/WPH Unit -
an inpatient crisis unit where seclusion /restraint may sometimes
be utilized.B. Equipment Operation - Frequently used equipment
would include basic medical equipment, computers, telephones, fax
machine, copy machine and other basic office equipment. SPECIFIC
QUALIFICATIONS: A. Education Level: High School/GED Associate
Bachelor Master XOther Graduate of approved school of nursing. RN
License. (specify) Discipline/Field/Course of Study: Nursing. Must
have current RN License with the Arizona State Board of Nursing. B.
Experience: Six months actual nursing experience in medical/
behavioral health facility within the past three years, or have
successfully completed an accredited nursing refresher course. A
new graduate must have 6 months experience as an LPN or nursing
assistant and/or completed a preceptorship with Hillside PHF Unit
and/or another approved psychiatric facility. Field: Psychiatry
preferred but not required. Population (if applicable): Broad based
psychiatric experience preferred. Number of Years: No minimum.
Special Skills/Knowledge: Prefer strong knowledge of
psychiatric/mental health nursing principles and procedures,
psychotropic medications, substance abuse issues, and ANA Standards
of Professional Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. CORE/INITIAL
COMPETENCIES: List those competencies required to adequately
