day-to-day supervision and oversight of services for inpatient
nursing staff at Crisis Stabilization Unit and Windhaven
Psychiatric Hospital. Includes collaboration and coordination of
care with inpatient clinical teams and other department
disciplines. Maintains relationships with outside agencies. Ensures
that supervision occurs. Coordinates inpatient policies and
procedures with the Inpatient Operations Manager, Director of
Nursing, Director of Inpatient Services and Medical Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversees operations of
inpatient nursing staff and paramedic staff to ensure smooth and
efficient unit operations. 2. Collaborates with Inpatient
Operations Manager, medical and nursing staff to facilitate
provision of patient care. 3. Provides immediate supervision to
inpatient nursing staff, paramedic staff. 4. Ensures adequate
nursing department staffing to provide safe patient care through
review of appropriate data, development and maintenance of
inpatient unit master schedules. 5. Responsible for billing faxes
for medications at the Crisis Stabilization Unit. 6. Oversees
inpatient unit logs for CLIA waived testing, and oversees CLIA
calibrations for glucometers, pregnancy tests, breathalyzers. 7.
Checks for and maintains compliance around expired medications,
emergency medical cart, refrigerator logs. 8. Serves as real-time
resource and assists with nursing expertise for staff with
problem-solving on patient-care, processes and family/patient
issues. 9. Oversees and maintains inpatient unit vital signs
equipment, ensures I-STAT cartridges are up to date. 10. Ensuring
hand-washing practices are being monitored and completed
appropriately per policy and procedure. 11. Prepares reports and
assignments as directed and required in the management of the
Department (under the auspices of the Director of Nursing). 12.
Assesses for nursing and paramedic staff skills and effectiveness
on an ongoing basis and provides additional training as needed. 13.
Ensures nursing groups are being facilitated as scheduled. 14.
Completes on-boarding for new nursing and paramedic staff:
orientation to the unit, e3 system, and assigning point person for
continued orientation. 15. Oversees nursing documentation for
patient care to ensure proficiency in compliance with inpatient
unit and hospital policies, procedures and regulatory agencies. 16.
Ensures that nursing staff follow all agency policies and
procedures through providing on-going education and reminders on
agency policies and procedures. 17. Leads/co-facilitates and
attends regular staff meetings, supervision meetings and trainings.
18. Review of medication incident reports for inpatient units. 19.
Represents the agency to external contacts and within the agency.
20. Works with other agency department managers and staff to assure
coordination with all other Polara Healthdepartments. 21. Performs
other duties as assigned. BACKGROUND: A. Supervision - List the

Directly supervises 10-25 staff. Number of direct reports may
change depending on the need of the program(s). B. Confidentiality

or other leaders, patients/families, payers or other groups in the
community.This position requires a great deal of public, client and
collegial contact. It calls for strong public relations skills and
problem-solving skills involving diplomacy and sensitivity. F.
