Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Multi Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Must have at least 2 years of ICU experience. - Strong skills in titrating drips. Description: Unit requires review of profile and manager interview. Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract. If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, they will be deemed not available for six months. Candidates may not work full time, part time, or PRN with any closely associated facilities within the past year. Unit provides a combined acuity care with a total of 10 beds. Patient ratios depend on acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6. RNs are responsible for primary care if no nurse aide is available. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, and post-operative complications. RNs are required to titrate drips, which may include sedation, vasopressors, and insulin. Charge RNs manage a variety of inpatient beds, including multiple acuity types. Nurse aides take 10-15 patients; if no aide is available, RNs take 3 patients for primary care. Respiratory therapy equipment is supported on this unit. There are remote monitoring techs for patients, and RNs will need to monitor and read cardiac strips. Shifts are 12 hours with weekend requirements every other weekend. Holiday rotation is in place to distribute holidays fairly among staff. Staff may rotate standby duties if census is low. There is a floating requirement to care for various patient types across multiple units. Scrubs must be of any color except camouflage. Staff will attend hospital orientation along with specific unit training.
