your future. Responsibilities Identification and rendering of
diagnostic evaluation of cytological specimens (gynecological and
non-gynecological) for abnormality, evidence of malignancy, or
other diseases. Signs out negative gynecological specimen reports.
Serves as a member of the FNA team providing on site adequacy
evaluation of endoscopic ultrasound-directed and radiology
technique-based fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures.
Cytotechnologists also provide the support for ancillary techniques
and related interpretations. May perform quality control
activities. May participate in additional activities in the lab
that may include but are not limited to: Provide technical advice
and coverage to the preparation and processing area during times of
short staffing in that area. May be responsible for handling
chemicals and/or reagents including chemical hazardous waste
materials. Assist in the training of new employees or
cytotechnology students. Assist management personnel with the
gathering of data relevant to quality assurance activities,
continuous improvement activities and/or special projects.
Essential job functions include: Ability to concentrate
(microscopically) for long periods of time (6-8 hours).
Demonstrated proficiency in judgement and decision-making abilities

Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension
program Qualifications Bachelors degree in Cytotechnology, or
bachelors degree with completion of an accredited Cytotechnology
program. Evidence of experience using databases, spreadsheets, and
word processing software. Additional Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and ability to
prioritize work, problem solve, effectively manage time, and adjust
to changes in work volumes and projects. Previous Cytotechnologist
experience preferred. License or Certification: Cytotechnology (CT,
ASCP) or Specialist in Cytotechnology (SCT, ASCP) certification
required prior to start date. Individuals obtaining CT
certification(s) after January 1, 2004 or SCT certification after
January 1, 2006 will be required to demonstrate evidence of ongoing
maintenance of certification.
