License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Graduation from an accredited program, including EKG Interpretation. - Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience that demonstrates requisite job knowledge and abilities. - Ability to pass an Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. - Must be available for 2-3 days of day shift for orientation. - Must work weekends and holidays. - Strict no-cell-phone policy; the facility provides a work phone number for use. Description: This complex position is responsible for performing remote surveillance for multiple locations, specifically related to cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station. The role includes recognizing, recording, and reporting potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias following established standards and procedures. Work is primarily performed in a centralized monitoring unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Each Technician can monitor up to 60 patients due to advanced IT technology capabilities. The incumbent will accurately identify cardiac rhythms and comply with command center policy. Accurate action must be taken and proper protocols followed in notifying local nursing staff of changes in cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias. Individuals must follow established communication channels in handling routine and emergency situations. Awareness of improving patient outcomes and department metrics is expected. Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, Supervisor, and Director support is available. The monitor equipment includes advanced technology systems. Shifts are scheduled as 12-hour shifts, with varying schedules. Weekend requirements include working 4 weekend shifts during a schedule. Holiday work is required. There is no call or standby requirement, but it may occur if census drops. Cross-training opportunities are available for different roles within the monitoring department. Dress code is business casual. Unit-specific orientation is provided. Cancellation policies apply for shifts during assignment. Charting systems utilized include electronic records.
